Founded in August 2009, Redmond Zombies organises the "Thrill The World" Zombie Block Party at the Redmond Town Center.
"Thrill The World"
"Thrill The World" is an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson's “Thriller” for
world records and charity. A tribute to Michael Jackson, it was started by Ines Markelle in
2006 in Toronto, Canada. In the first year, 62 people to danced "Thriller", earning a Guinn
ess World Record for the "Largest Thriller Dance". The event quickly grew, with 1,722 people
taking part in 2007, and 4,179 people from 10 nations in 2008 - and in 2009 at went wrial, with
over 250 events organized in 13 countries. On the 29th August, to celebrate Michael Jackson's
birthday, more than 13,000 people danced “Thriller” in Mexico Citiy's Monument Square. Thro
ughout the summer the 2009, ‘Beat It” flash-mobs have been occurring all over the world, inc
luding in Seattle’s Pike Market.
On October 24th/25th 2009, 22,923 people danced in 32 countries and broke the Record Holders Republic!
Volunteers in 278 events around the world Thrilled The World in 2009 raising over $85,000 USD for 80 charities!
Teresa - "Zombie Dance Instructor"
Teresa has had a life long passion for dance and for Michael Jackson’s music. As a national lecturer of “Dance in Education”, Teresa instructs Physical Educators how to teach social dance in a fun and constructive environment. Teresa is the VP of Dance for the North-West district of AAHPERD (American Association of Health, Physical Education, recreation and Dance).
She has been teaching Disco, Swing, Salsa and Ballroom for more than 25 years in Europe, Asia, and on the East Coast. She is offering adult and children classes in Swing, Salsa and Ballroom at the Redmond Parks & Recreation starting this fall.
Paul - "Zombie Event Manager"
Paul is manages the website and will be handling publicity for the Workshops and Zombie Costume Street Party. His background is in IT project management, and so he feels right at home arranging this event for all Eastside Zombies! Paul will also be attempting to learn the "Thriller" Dance.
